Swift Outside of the Apple Ecosystem
For many developers, Swift is synonymous with iPhone, iPad, and Mac development. But over the past few years, Swift has quietly evolved into a powerful general-purpose language capable of running far beyond Apple’s ecosystem. In this session, we’ll explore the current state of Swift outside of Apple platforms, including Android, Linux, WebAssembly, embedded devices, and server-side development. We’ll look at the official Swift SDK for Android, cross-platform frameworks such as Skip, and how Swift is increasingly being used to share code across mobile, backend, and cloud environments. Whether you’re an iOS engineer curious about expanding your reach or a developer interested in modern cross-platform technologies, this talk will provide a realistic look at what Swift can do in 2026.
